About me

I am a freelance scientist and R&D consultant specialising in bioprocess development and scale-up in the industrial biotechnology sector. I help organisations turn ideas into robust, scalable processes.

My work spans early‑phase concept development through process development, pilot scale‑up, and technology transfer to manufacturing. I work alongside laboratory teams and management to maximize first-time right outcomes, reduce technical uncertainty, and support data-driven decision-making.

I bring more than 25 years of experience in industrial R&D, working on a wide range of fermentation‑based processes for industrial enzymes, biochemicals, and food ingredients. My background covers genetics, enzymology, fermentation, and bioprocess technology. I have worked with a broad range of microbial hosts, including yeasts, bacteria and fungi, and have developed processes using fed‑batch, chemostat, and ISPR reactors for extractive and cell‑retention‑based production systems.

I’m known for combining deep technical expertise with structured project execution. I apply strong project management principles, supported by PMP certification, to help teams plan effectively, manage risk, and maintain momentum through complex R&D and scale‑up phases. Data quality and FAIR data principles are central to my way of working, with strong emphasis on robust data analysis and effective communication throughout the development process.

I work with start‑ups, scale‑ups, and established organisations across Europe and beyond. If you are developing a fermentation based process and are looking for independent R&D support, I would be happy to explore how I can help. Feel free to get in touch to discuss a specific challenge or project.
